Introduction
Solar water heating systems gather energy radiated by the sun & converts it into useful heat in the form of hot water. Systems have been available in the UK since the 1970’s & the technology is now well developed with a large choice of equipment to suit many applications.
Solar water heating systems work alongside your conventional water heater to provide hot water.
How Solar Works
Solar panels are mounted on southerly facing roofs, attracting solar rays throughout the day. The evacuated tube system works by absorbing the suns heat and transferring it into the tubes copper core, water is pumped through the 20 or 30 tube manifold, the heat gathered in each tube is transferred into the cold water that passes through the manifold thus heating the water. The water is then pumped through the cylinder; the heat from this is stored until required. |
