Title Solar Power

Why Solar

Introduction
Solar water heating systems gather energy radiated by the sun & converts it into useful heat in the form of hot water. Systems have been available in the UK since the 1970’s & the technology is now well developed with a large choice of equipment to suit many applications.

Solar water heating systems work alongside your conventional water heater to provide hot water.

How Solar Works
Solar panels are mounted on southerly facing roofs, attracting solar rays throughout the day. The evacuated tube system works by absorbing the suns heat and transferring it into the tubes copper core, water is pumped through the 20 or 30 tube manifold, the heat gathered in each tube is transferred into the cold water that passes through the manifold thus heating the water. The water is then pumped through the cylinder; the heat from this is stored until required.

Why Solar?

  • You will be at the forefront of renewable energy developments.
  • You will help to ease global warming as a home system could reduce carbon emissions by as much as 1 a tonne per year.
  • It’s reliable technology already used by over 42,000 homes in the UK
  • The system produces at least 50-70% of your hot water from renewable energy and help you against future gas price rises.
  • Increase the value of your home
  • Solar water heating work’s even on a cloudy day.
Is your building suitable for solar?

Preferably you will need:

  • You require 2-5m² of Southeast to Southwest facing roof space that receives nominal shading during the course of the day.
  • Space to locate an additional hot water cylinder if required.
  • Suitable ground area for scaffold towers to be erected, access to your roof & loft space.
