Well I bring the activity element to the business.
Since qualifying as an instructor in 1994 I have dedicated my career to helping others to understand and enjoy the benefits of leading an active and balanced life.
I have extensive experience through managing, creating, teaching and consulting in all areas of exercise, nutrition and activity. With the added experience of running my own personal training consultancy and fitness studio for ten years, then holding a senior strategic post within local government promoting sustainable transport - I have true first hand knowledge of how to engage people in making lasting positive changes within their lives.
I have a natural and infectious enthusiasm which has inspired many a flagging client and class over the years. Everything I do I approach it with a sense of humor and a little fun – lets face it, you only perform any given task or discipline consistently if you enjoy it - and it’s only consistency that yields results.
Many things have changed in the fitness industry since I began - but some rules I believe are absolute; People will only really change when they understand fully the consequences of their actions and take complete responsibility for them. When a person has resolved this and they feel comfortable, listened to and understood, it is possible to start changing their lives. Very often it isn’t by designing the ‘perfect’ stomach program or working the ‘core’, it’s by having people understand how activity must be worked in to their everyday life. A really outstanding coach can make exercise fit a client, not the other way around.
I am qualified through the Y.M.C.A, The Wright Foundation, Polar, Schwinn, Johnny G Spinning, Trixter and Hold a Diploma in Sports Psychology. I am a practitioner of NLP, a Reps registered advanced instructor and certified in exercise and mental health. In my spare time (?) I am a warranted scout leader and run my own scout troup.
